    Comment Dans le domaine de la sécurité et de la santé au travail, la Commission était initialement assistée par deux comités consultatifs, à savoir l'Organe permanent pour la sécurité et la salubrité dans les mines de houille et les autres industries extractives (institué en 1957; mandat étendu par la décision 74/326/CEE) et le Comité consultatif pour la sécurité, l'hygiène et la protection de la santé sur le lieu de travail (institué par la décision 74/325/CEE). Compte tenu de l'évolution du monde du travail et du droit communautaire, il a été proposé de rationaliser le fonctionnement de ces deux comités en les fusionnant, en réduisant le nombre de leurs membres et en les dotant d'un secrétariat unique. Selon la proposition de la Commission, ce nouveau comité devait conserver l'appellation «Comité consultatif pour la sécurité, l'hygiène et la protection de la santé sur le lieu de travail» mais c'est finalement le nom de «Comité consultatif pour la sécurité et la santé sur le lieu du travail» qui a été retenu lors de l'adoption de la décision.Le comité est composé de trois membres titulaires par État membre, à savoir un représentant des gouvernements nationaux, un représentant des organisations syndicales de travailleurs et un représentant des organisations syndicales d'employeurs.
