- Comment Distribution: endemic to Bawean Island (= Pulau Bawean), in the Javan Sea off the northern coast of Java, Indonesia. Classified as "critically endangered" in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as its population size is estimated to number fewer than 250 mature individuals, with at least 90% confined to one subpopulation, which, although currently stable, is expected to go into continuing decline due to an deterioration in habitat quality through invasion by Eupatorium.
