    Comment En 2016, la manifestation a été rebaptisée «Semaine européenne des régions et des villes», et l'intitulé «OPEN DAYS» a été abandonné. Le but était d'éviter la confusion avec la journée «portes ouvertes», organisée chaque année en mai à Bruxelles par toutes les institutions de l'UE pour célébrer la Journée de l'Europe. Il s'agissait aussi d'éviter la confusion avec des manifestations similaires mises sur pied par les représentations de la Commission européenne dans les États membres à cette même occasion.
