    Definition Die nichtexplosive bzw. nichtenergetische Reaktivpanzerung (Non Explosive Reactive Armor - NERA) besteht aus Modulen, die optisch und konstruktiv jenen der explosiven Reaktivpanzerung ähneln. Die Module haben aber anstelle des Sprengstoffes eine inerte (nichtexplosive) Füllung, die einen Teil der auftretenden Geschossenergie aufnimmt und durch den dabei entstehenden hohen Innendruck im Modul die Ausbeulung der oberen Metallplatte des 'Sandwiches' bewirkt.
