    Comment Brake pad and shoe surfaces are made out of a friction material compound. The pad surface or lining has a texture similar to fine sandpaper When brake pads are pressed against the spinning brake rotor it creates friction, or drag. When enough friction is created, the wheels will eventually stop turning.
