    Comment "The ecological footprint of fishing is a component of the ecological footprint, which is a measure of the amount of resources needed to meet the demands of an individual or community. The ecological footprint of fishing is therefore not the same as the fishing footprint, which focuses on the impact of fishing on a given area, but rather a measure of the area of productive marine ecosystems required to produce the amount of fish consumed by humans (expressed in global hectares). It can therefore be used as an indicator of whether that consumption is sustainable."
