Comment Examples of land-based sources of marine pollution include sewage, persistent organic pollutants, radioactive substances, heavy metals, oils (hydrocarbons), nutrients, sediment mobilisation, litter, and the physical alteration and destruction of habitats. The term 'land-based pollution' [ IATE:774675 ], while often used to refer to this concept, is technically broader, encompassing the land-based pollution of all types of water bodies, not just oceans and seas.
