    Definition Mit dem Begriff der Klumpenauswahl werden einfache Zufallsauswahlen bezeichnet, die aber nicht auf einzelne Elemente der eigentlich interessierenden Grundgesamtheit zugreifen, sondern auf bereits zusammengefasste Elemente, auf sog. Klumpen oder Cluster. Dabei kann es sich z.B. um Wahlkreise (oder andere räumliche Einheiten wie Stadtbezirke etc.), aber auch um andere Einheiten wie z.B. Unternehmen, Organisationen etc. handeln.
