    Comment Anti-Onkogene (Tumor-Suppressor-Gene) zählen wie Proto-Onkogene zu den normalen Genen einer gesunden Zelle. Über ihre Genprodukte kontrollieren sie das Wachstums- und Differenzierungsverhalten der Zellen und wirken im Sinne von negativen Regulatoren. Dadurch wirken sie der Tumorentstehung entgegen, weshalb sie auch als Tumor-Suppressor-Gene bezeichnet werden. Mutationen können zum Verlust dieser Funktion führen, indem ein fehlerhaftes oder gar kein Genprodukt gebildet wird. So kommt es auch hierdurch zu einem deregulierten Zellwachstum.
