    Comment There is no universally agreed definition of the Arctic. Scientists often define the Arctic as the area within the Arctic Circle (66o 34' North), the latitude above which the sun does not set on the summer solstice or rise on the winter solstice. Another definition used by scientists is the area north of the Arctic tree line, which is the northern limit of tree growth. A further definition is based on temperature, which includes any locations in high latitudes where the average daily summer temperature does not rise above 10o C.
