(4) Aon uair a dhéanfaidh maor madraí nó comhalta den Gharda Síochána madra fáin a urghabháil nó a choinneáil de bhun an ailt seo, tabharfaidh an t-údarás áitiúil, nó, de réir mar a bheidh, an Ceannfort den Gharda Síochána, fógra don úinéir nó don duine eile i bhfeighil an mhadra, má bhíonn ainm an úineára sin nó an duine eile sin ar eolas ag an údarás nó ag an gCeannfort nó más féidir é a fhionnadh go héasca, go ndearnadh an madra a urghabháil agus a choinneáil agus go ndéanfar é a dhiúscairt nó a dhíothú, tar éis cúig lá ó dháta an fhógra a thabhairt, mura n-éileofar an madra agus mura ndéanfaidh an t-úinéir nó, de réir mar a bheidh, an duine i bhfeighil an mhadra gach costas a bhain lena urghabháil agus lena choinneáil a íoc.
(4) Whenever a stray dog is seized or detained pursuant to this section by a dog warden or a member of the Garda Síochána, the local authority or, as the case may be, the Superintendent of the Garda Síochána shall give notice to the owner or other person in charge of the dog, if the name of such owner or other person is known to it or him or can be readily ascertained, that the dog has been seized and detained and that the dog will be disposed of, or destroyed, after five days from the date of the giving of the notice, if such dog is not claimed and all expenses relating to its seizure and detention are not paid by the owner or, as the case may be, the person in charge of the dog.
