    Comment "D'une manière générale, lorsque le terme campagne de pêche (ou simplement campagne) est suivi d'une année (ex: campagne 2012), il est fait référence à la durée d'une année (fishing year), qui correspond à la durée d'application des TACs et quotas. Selon les règlements de l'UE, il peut s'agir soit d'une année civile, soit d'une année chevauchante (par exemple du 1er décembre au 30 novembre de l'année suivante). En anglais, on fait la différence entre fishing year et fishing season. Or, en français, les termes de campagne de pêche ou saison de pêche sont interchangeables et peuvent donc s'appliquer à une durée d'un an, mais aussi à des durées plus courtes, pour des campagnes à aspect saisonnier. Il s'agit de campagnes ciblant des espèces spécifiques (par exemple la pêche au thon) ou utilisant des engins spécifiques (pêche à la senne par exemple). La campagne de pêche pour l'espèce spécifique (ou l'engin spécifique) ne durera alors pas un an, mais par exemple un mois (en fonction de la réglementation concernée pour la gestion des espèces), voire moins si les quotas sont atteints avant l'écoulement de la durée autorisée aux dates autorisées.
