zero gas
en
Definition pure gas not containing the component to be measured, and as similar to the matrix of the measured sample as possible, used in establishing the zero, or no response, adjustment of an instrument Reference "COM-EN, based on:- Linde > Specialty Gases > Gas mixtures, http://hiq.linde-gas.com/en/specialty_gases/gas_mixtures.html [11.3.2016]- Annex 16 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation. Environmental Protection. Comment "The purity of the zero gas used to set zero point on analytical instrumentation is critical and must be sufficient for the application. Possible contamination of zero gas might significantly influence the results of analytical measurements. Impurities occurring in concentrations as low as parts per billion can have serious consequences, particularly if the impurities are part of the sample to be analysed or if the analyst is not sure which molecules are present in the sample.Reference: Linde > Specialty Gases > Zero gases, http://hiq.linde-gas.com/en/specialty_gases/zero_gases.html [11.3.2015] See also: - span gas (related) [ IATE:1107303 ]- calibration gas (broader) [ IATE:379087 ]"
