Cette espèce figure à l'annexe III de la CITES (Convention sur le commerce international des espèces de faune et de flore sauvages menacées d'extinction) et est inscrite dans la catégorie des espèces menacées (EN: endangered) de la liste rouge des espèces menacées de l'IUCN (Union internationale pour la conservation de la nature).
