    Comment 1) The resulting feelings of shame, fear and helplessness lead to low levels of reporting and, subsequently, relatively few convictions. The largest burden of intimate partner violence is inflicted by men against their women partners. 2) Intimate Partner Violence includes four types of behaviour: - Physical violence: trying to hurt a partner by hitting, kicking, or using another type of physical force. - Sexual violence: forcing or attempting to force a partner to take part in a sex act, sexual touching, or a non-physical sexual event.- Stalking: pattern of repeated, unwanted attention and contact by a partner causing fear or concern for one’s own safety or the safety of someone close to the victim. - Psychological aggression: using verbal and non-verbal communication with the intent to harm another person mentally or emotionally and/or to exert control over another person.

    Comment Les sentiments de honte, de peur et d'impuissance qui en résultent se traduisent par de faibles taux de signalement et, en conséquence, les condamnations sont relativement rares. Dans la plupart des cas de violence exercée par un partenaire intime, ce sont les hommes qui font subir ce type de comportement à leur partenaire féminin.
