    Comment La violence conjugale vise la violence au sein d'un couple, qu'il soit marié, pacsé ou en concubinage. Bien que le code civil français vise uniquement la violence entre époux, la qualité de conjoint, retenue comme circonstance aggravante en cas de violences conjugales depuis 1992, a été élargie aux concubins, pacsés et anciens conjoints par la loi du 4 avril 2006. Ce type de violence est un processus de contrôle et de domination qui viole les libertés du partenaire ainsi que son intégrité corporelle, mentale et sexuelle. Dans la plupart des cas de violence conjugale, les auteurs de violence semblent être des hommes et les victimes des femmes.

    Comment 1) The resulting feelings of shame, fear and helplessness lead to low levels of reporting and, subsequently, relatively few convictions.
