    Comment Plus généralement connu sous l'appellation Hamas, ce mouvement, créé en 1987, se déclarait alors être «une des ailes des Frères Musulmans en Palestine», dont le but était de remplacer Israël par un État islamique palestinien. Toutefois, le 1er mai 2017, il a rendu public un document de principes comportant notamment l’approbation des frontières de 1967. Il reste que, dans un même paragraphe, le Hamas soutient la promesse de la libération de la «Palestine» (territoires palestiniens et Israël) et l’établissement d’un État uniquement sur les territoires occupés.La politique du Hamas est accompagnée par la présence impérieuse des Brigades d'Al Qassam, qui sont, comme on le dit dans la bande de Gaza, réellement celles qui gouvernent. Ces brigades ont commis de nombreuses attaques visant des cibles civiles et militaires israéliennes, des collaborateurs palestiniens, et des rivaux du groupe Fatah, groupe qui administre la Cisjordanie et qui a renoncé à la violence, contrairement au Hamas.
