- Comment Das Bataillon ist die militärische Ebene oberhalb der Kompanie. Gleichzeitig ist es der kleinste taktische Verband der Bundeswehr. - Comment "- A battalion is usually subdivided into a number of companies (at least two, usually each commanded by a major or a captain). - Usually under the command of a lieutenant colonel (OF-4). - In some countries, such as the United States and Canada, the term 'squadron' is also used for some specific units of this echelon.
