- Sainmhíniú procedure for compiling consumer price indices and measuring inflation by collecting the prices of a representative selection of items in a given reference period and then collecting their prices again in subsequent periods, so that like is compared with like Tagairt "COM-Terminology Coordination and COM-EN, based on:Silver, M. and Heravi, S., Working Paper no. 144: A Failure in the Measurement of Inflation: Results from a Hedonic and Matched Experiment Using Scanner Data (28.7.2022), European Central Bank, Frankfurt am Main, 2002, p. 7"
- Nóta "The matched model methodology, where prices of exactly the same item are compared over time, is the natural starting point for the construction of any price index. Because of the low incidence of real estate transactions, and because the quality of houses continually changes, the standard matched model methodology cannot be applied straightforwardly. The repeat sales method attempts to deal with this issue by looking only at properties that have been sold more than once over a sample period. This, however, can lead to a relatively low number of observations and to sample selection bias. To overcome such problems, assessed values of the properties could be used. > see method that replicates the matched model"
