    Nóta Dans le language commun, énergie verte et énergie propre sont souvent utilisés de manière interchangeable. Or, il y a une distinction entre l'énergie propre, qui est produite sans émissions de gaz à effet de serre, mais qui n'est pas forcément naturellement renouvelable, et l'énergie verte, qui est produite à partir de sources d'énergie renouvelables qui ne polluent pas l'environnement. Ainsi, le nucléaire est souvent considéré comme une énergie propre (pas de rejets de gaz à effet de serre), mais pas comme une énergie verte (non renouvelable).
