    Comment "Korrosion ist immer auf Potentialunterschiede zwischen einem metallischen Werkstoff (z.B. einer Rohrleitung) und seiner Umgebung zurückzuführen. Sie ist ein elektrochemischer Vorgang bei dem es an der Metalloberfläche zu einem Materialabtrag kommt. Durch das Anbringen einer elektrischen Spannung zwischen Metall und Erdboden lässt sich der Korrosionsprozess aktiv beeinflussen. Der Kathodische Korrosionsschutz bewirkt eine Potentialabsenkung und reduziert damit die Korrosionsabtragsrate auf einen technisch zu vernachlässigenden Wert (ca. 0,01 mm pro Jahr).
