Comment It is a life-threatening neoplasia, but is potentially curable. It can be hereditary or non hereditary, unilateral or bilateral. It has an incidence of approximately 1/15-20,000 in Europe. It manifests most often in young children (90% of cases <3 years old). Early clinical signs are leukocoria and strabismus. It is most often painless and children rarely complain of visual impairment despite its rapid progression towards loss of vision in the affected eye.
