    Comment 1. The viticultural concept of ‘green harvesting’ in the context of the CAP refers to a market management measure used when an excessive production of grapes is expected. In exchange, the farmer benefits from Union support. 2. Not to be confused with the viticultural practice of crop thinning IATE:1616778/EN sometimes also referred to as ‘green harvest(ing)’, which refers to the removal of unripe bunches of grapes while they are still green to enable the remaining grape clusters to fully ripen according to the winemaker's aims and to help manage yield.The practice defined here is specific to the wine sector.     Comment Attention, la notion de "vendange en vert" utilisée dans le cadre de la PAC est un peu différente de la notion utilisée généralement. Il s'agit ici d'une mesure de gestion du marché lorsque l’on s’attend à une production excessive de raisins. L'exploitant bénéficie en contrepartie d'une aide de l'Union.En dehors du contexte de la PAC, la vendange en vert consiste à couper une partie des grappes vertes avant la véraison afin de permettre une plus grande concentration des grappes restantes, de diminuer la production de raisin par pied et d'améliorer la qualité du vin.
