"public road" means any road, street, lane, footpath, square, court, alley or passage and any part thereof, the responsibility for the maintenance of which lies on a road authority, and includes any bridge, viaduct, underpass, subway, tunnel, overbridge, flyover, pipe, arch, gulley, footpath, carriageway (whether single or multiple), pavement, railing, fence, wall, barrier, guardrail, margin, lay-by, hard shoulder, cycle track, island, median, central reserve, channelliser, roundabout, pole, bollard, wire, cable, sign, signal or lighting forming part of the road or other similar structure forming part of the road necessary for the safety, convenience or amenity of road users;
(e) aon uiscebhealach inseolta, abhainn, sruthán nó sruthchúrsa eile, droichead, tollán, lintéar, píopa, draein nó ní eile a thochailt, a bhriseadh nó a dhúnadh go sealadach ar aon slí eile, a thrasnú, a shíneadh, a chlaonadh nó baint leo nó iad a athrú ar aon slí eile.
( e ) dig, break or otherwise temporarily close, cross, extend, divert or otherwise interfere with or alter any navigable waterway, river, stream or other watercourse, bridge, tunnel, culvert, pipe, drain or other thing,
(c) aon loc, cé, cuan, duga tirim, cora, bealach éisc, fánán, stáisiún caidéalaithe, foirgneamh, cosán tarraingthe, droichead, uisce-rian, claífort, lintéar nó bóthar (seachas bóthar poiblí de réir bhrí an Achta Rialtais Áitiúil (Bóithre agus Mótarbhealaí), 1974 ) ar na canálacha, tharstu nó in aice leo a thógáil, a athrú, a thacú nó a fheabhsú;
( c ) construct, alter, underpin or improve any lock, quay, harbour, drydock, weir, fishpass, slipway, pumping station, building, towpath, bridge, aqueduct, embankment, culvert or road (other than a public road within the meaning of the Local Government (Roads and Motorways) Act, 1974 ) on, over or beside the canals;
