Rules concerning national procedures, the objection procedure, the classification of the amendments into Union amendments and standard amendments, including the main rules for the adoption of such amendments, and temporary labelling and presentation currently laid down in Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/33 are an important element of the scheme for the protection of designations of origin and geographical indications in the wine sector.

Amendments to a product specification shall be classified into two categories as regards their importance: Union amendments requiring an objection procedure at Union level and standard amendments to be dealt with at Member State or third country level.

Article 247 of the Agreement provides for the possibility to add new geographical indications to Annex XVIII (‘Protected Geographical Indications’) to the Agreement after having completed the objection procedure and after having been successfully examined by the competent national or regional authorities in accordance with the relevant rules and procedures for the Association Council.

Λτδ” (Grigoriou B.E. Ltd), cuideachta a chruthaigh faoin nós imeachta agóide náisiúnta gur chuir sé an táirge ar an margadh go dleathach faoi ainm comhionann leis an ainm cláraithe ar feadh níos mó ná 5 bliana.
By letter of 15 September 2017, the authorities of Cyprus proposed to the Commission to grant a transitional period for the use of the name ‘Λουκάνικο Πιτσιλιάς’ (Loukaniko Pitsilias) to the company ‘Γρηγορίου Β.Ε. Λτδ’ (Grigoriou B.E. Ltd), which during the national objection procedure proved that it had lawfully marketed the product under a name identical to the registered name for more than five years.
