Oat lecithin is a fractionated oat oil, which acts as an emulsifier and facilitates the manufacturing of cocoa and chocolate products by reducing the viscosity and yield value of chocolate products.
Dá bhrí sin, is iomchuí úsáid na leicitine coirce mar eiblitheoir a údarú i gcatagóir bia “táirgí cócó agus seacláide mar a chumhdaítear le Treoir 2000/36/CE”, ar uasleibhéal úsáide 20000 mg/kg, agus E 222a a shannadh mar E-uimhir don bhreiseán sin.
It is therefore appropriate to authorise the use of oat lecithin as an emulsifier in the food category ‘cocoa and chocolate products as covered by Directive 2000/36/EC’, at the maximum use level of 20000 mg/kg, and to assign E 322a as E-number to that additive.

On 18 March 2020, an application was submitted for the authorisation of the use of polyglycerol polyricinoleate (E 476) as an emulsifier in edible ices for fat and oil emulsion of water-in-oil type and emulsified sauces with a fat content of more than 20 %.
