    Nóta Geschaffen 1982 aufgrund von Artikel 17 Absatz 3 des Übereinkommens zur Beseitigung jeder Form von Diskriminierung der Frau nach dessen Inkrafttreten im September 1981. Seit Inkrafttreten des Fakultativprotokolls im Jahr 2000 kann der Ausschuss auch Individualbeschwerden gegen einen Vertragsstaat des Protokolls prüfen sowie bei schwerwiegenden Vertragsverletzungen Untersuchungsverfahren durchführen, soweit der betreffende Staat sich diesen nach Artikel 8 des Protokolls unterworfen hat.
