- Nóta At the 1996 NATO ministerial meeting in Berlin, it was agreed to develop a European Security and Defence Identity (ESDI). - Sainmhíniú Identité européenne spécifique en matière de sécurité et de défense dont le principe a été lancé lors du Conseil de l?OTAN à Bruxelles en janvier 1994. Elle a connu un début de réalisation avec le développement, lors du Conseil de Berlin en juin 1996, du concept de GFIM. Ces Groupes de forces interarmées multinationales doivent permettre d'utiliser des capacités militaires de l'OTAN dans des opérations conduites par l'UEO sous son contrôle politique et sa direction stratégique en exécution de décision relevant de la PESC.
