- Nóta Decentralised systems include both electromechanical systems and electronic wired-logic systems, since these comprise various types of common-control equipment, e.g., registers, translators and markers. In addition, this class of exchanges includes the following stored-program systems:(a) multilevel systems;(b) distributed-processor systems, designed either as centralised traffic-division systems, segmented multiprocessor systems, or function-division systems; and(c) fully distributed systems.Decentralised systems are not radically different from centralised systems, in fact, most stored-program systems combine features of both. For example, many multilevel systems comprise a centralised level consisting of two processors in a parallel synchronous or load-sharing arrangement, and a decentralised level made up of the signal processors. The degree of decentralisation is a function of the number of processors in operation and of their independence, and is always very relative.
