A brewer of beer, not being a brewer for sale within the meaning of the Inland Revenue Act 1880 s.19. A private brewer is not required to take out a brewer's licence; the beer brewed is not liable to excise duty provided it is solely for his own domestic use: Finance Act 1989 s.51.
