- Nóta The establishment of this panel was proposed by the UN Environment Assembly in March 2022. The UN Environment Programme then convened an ad hoc open-ended working group to prepare proposals for the panel, aiming to complete its work by the end of 2024. The panel's goal would be to support countries in their efforts to take chemicals and pollution action, including the implementation of multilateral environmental agreements and the promotion of the sound management of chemicals and waste, by providing policy-relevant advice.
