    Comment La libération conditionnelle se base sur deux principes: - le comportement de la personne incarcérée peut changer au cours de sa détention, et - il peut être difficile pour les juges, au moment de prononcer la sentence, d'évaluer l'effet qu'aura celle-ci sur le comportement de la personne condamnée. Le système des LC permet donc de s'assurer que les buts visés par la sentence sont atteints. Ne pas confondre avec la "libération sous contrainte (LSC)", qui entraîne l'exécution du reliquat de peine sous le régime de la semi-liberté, du placement à l'extérieur, du placement sous surveillance électronique ou de la libération conditionnelle.
