- Sainmhíniú progressive diminishing of reference values of tests as the value of each test (e.g. sensitivity, specificity) is not compared against a single reference value (B to A, C to A, D to A), but each test is compared to another (C to B, D to C etc.) Tagairt COM-EN, based on:European Commission. DG SANTE. Correspondence dated 14.4.2020
- Nóta If test A is 95% sensitive, and test B is compared against A but B is only 95% of A, then test C is compared against B and test C is 95% of B, C will now be 0.95*0.95*A which is only 90% A. So because of this chain the tests gradually get worse, and so it is better to use a single reference (in this example all against A)
