- Nóta In den meisten Ländern werden Frauen in der Regel nicht als Haushaltsvorstand angesehen, es sei denn, kein männlicher Erwachsener lebt dauerhaft in dem Haushalt. Die Annahme, dass der Haushaltsvorstand immer ein erwachsener Mann sein müsse, selbst wenn der wirtschaftliche Beitrag einer Frau zum Unterhalt des Haushalts gleich groß oder größer als der des Mannes ist, stellt eine Form von Gender Bias dar. In Entwicklungsländern geht ein allgemeiner Trend dahin, dass immer mehr Frauen die wirtschaftliche Hauptunterstützungsquelle für ihre Familien bilden.

- Nóta In most countries, women are not usually considered as heads of households unless no adult male is living permanently in the household. The assumption that the head of a household is always an adult man, even if a woman’s economic contribution to the household’s maintenance is the same or greater than that of a man, is a form of gender bias. In developing countries, there is a general trend of more and more women being the primary source of economic support for their families.

- Nóta Dans la plupart des pays, les femmes ne sont habituellement pas considérées comme «chefs de famille», à moins qu'aucun homme adulte ne réside dans le foyer. Le postulat traditionnel en vertu duquel le rôle de «chef defamille» doit toujours être occupé par un homme, quand bien même la contribution économique de la femme à la gestion du foyer est la même, voire supérieure à celle de l'homme, est une forme de préjugé contre les femmes. Dans les pays en développement, les femmes se posent de plus en plus en tant que principale source de revenus de leur foyer.
