- Nóta Contracts for difference may also involve paybacks from beneficiaries to taxpayers or consumers for periods in which the reference price exceeds the strike price.These contracts have been used for electricity generation measures in recent years but could also involve a reference price linked to the ETS – i.e. ‘carbon’ contracts for difference.Not to be confused with 930193 contract for difference. Although similar terms are used for the two concepts, this concept concerns a contract in the energy sector that is designed to offset market price volatility and encourage investment in energy generation projects (renewable or nuclear in particular). 930193 relates to financial derivatives that allow traders to take advantage of prices moving up or down.
