meter credentials
en
Sainmhíniú procedure or information that allows someone to access and interpret the data in a meter, which may include the turning on of a meter device's data port to allow data to flow, a decryption key, decoding instructions, or instructions on how to turn on data flow locally or on what sort of device to plug in to extract the data, or even the specification of compatible devices Tagairt COM-Terminology Coordination and COM-EN, based on: European Commission, DG ENER. Correspondence dated 4.4.2023.
Nóta Meter credentials vary from Member State to Member State. In Austria, for instance, full detailed technical specifications are provided along with the encryption key to extract the data from the meter and interpret it. In France, the consumer can buy a dongle to plug into their meter (Linky) port to directly access their data. Consumers in the Netherlands can do the same via their meter (P1) port. In other countries, consumers can get an in-home display from their supplier or buy one themselves, or if they want something more, they can get a so-called ‘Consumer Access Device’ to bridge to some other system in the home. The provision of meter credentials simplifies the possibilities of accessing, interpreting, and further using the data.
