Nóta 1. WHO classifies emergencies under a series of grades as part of an internal process carried out in order to activate the organisation's Incident Management System and Emergency SOPs and determine the most appropriate operational response to an emergency and the corresponding amount of internal and external human and material resources needed to deal with it. 2. The grades reflect the level of response required, ranging from ‘limited’ (grade 1) and ‘moderate’ (grade 2) to ‘major’/‘maximal’ (grade 3).3. A graded emergency lasting longer than six months is reclassified as a protracted emergency.
