- Sainmhíniú physical treatment process for in-situ remediation of volatile contaminants in vadose zone (unsaturated) soils using vacuum blowers and extraction wells to induce gas flow through the subsurface and collecting contaminated soil vapour which is subsequently treated above ground Tagairt "COM-Terminology Coordination, based on: Wikipedia > Soil vapor extraction (18.7.2023)"
- Nóta 1. The hazardous substances to be removed must be volatile or at least semivolatile (a vapour pressure of 0.5 torr or greater); 2. The hazardous substances to be removed must have relatively low water solubility or the soil moisture content must be quite low; 3. The hazardous substances to be removed must be in the vadose zone (above the groundwater table) or, in the case of LNAPLs, floating on it; 4. The soil must be sufficiently permeable to permit the vapour extraction wells to draw air through all of the contaminated domains at a reasonable rate.--------------------------------------------Soil vapour extraction couples vapour extraction (recovery wells) with blowers or vacuum pumps to remove vapours from the vadose zone and, therefore, reduce the levels of residual soil contaminants.
