    Comment La nicotine est le principal alcaloïde du tabac, représentant 90 à 95 % du contenu total en alcaloïdes. À faible dose, elle a un effet stimulant, et à forte dose, elle est hautement toxique, provoque nausées et vomissements, puis la mort par paralysie respiratoire. La nicotine n’est pas le seul composé de la fumée de tabac qui puisse intervenir dans le mécanisme de dépendance.
