- Nóta "It is based on a website which the European Commission and national governments use to share information on the detail of particular cases, and give governments a chance to remedy any breaches through voluntary compliance.EU Pilot does not cover 100% of single market law, as some areas were already covered by comparable systems before its introduction.The Commission may need to gather information — on its own initiative or in response to a complaint — about whether EU law is being correctly applied or whether national law is consistent with EU law.1. Using EU Pilot, it sends a query to the national government concerned, which has 10 weeks to reply.2. The Commission then has 10 weeks to assess the response.3. If it is unsatisfactory, the Commission may start infringement proceedings.The final goal of the system is to allow Member States to remedy potential EU law infringements by complying voluntarily with EU law.EU Pilot started in April 2008 with 15 volunteer Member States (Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden, Spain and the United Kingdom).
