- Comment Par gros bétail, on entend les équidés et les bovins. L'UGB est une unité employée pour pouvoir comparer ou agréger des effectifs d’animaux d’espèces ou de catégories différentes. On définit des équivalences basées sur les besoins alimentaires de ces animaux. Par définition, une vache de 600 kg produisant 3000 litres de lait par an est égale à 1 UGB, un veau de boucherie à 0,45 UGB, une brebis-mère nourrice à 0,18 UGB etc. (cf. http://ec.europa.eu/agriculture/envir/report/fr/lex_fr/report.htm ).
