    Nóta „Die wesentliche Anforderung an eine Transformationsfunktion H ist die möglichst gleichmässige Verteilung der Schlüssel auf den Bereich der Indexwerte. Abgesehen von dieser Bedingung ist die Verteilung an kein Muster gebunden, und es ist geradezu wünschenswert, wenn sie völlig zufällig ist. Diese Eigenschaft hat der Methode den nicht sehr wissenschaftlich klingenden Namen hashing eingebracht (…). Sie ist auch unter dem Namen Streuspeicherung bekannt.
