    Comment Im Gegensatz zur echten Rückmutation wird durch kompensierende Mutationen (Restaurierung, Suppression) der Wildtyp nur phänotypisch (Phänotyp) wiederhergestellt. Rückmutationen können von kompensierenden Mutationen durch Kreuzung„Rückmutante × Wildtyp“ unterschieden werden: liegt eine Rückmutation vor, so entspricht die gesamte Nachkommenschaft dem Wildtyp, während bei Vorliegen einer kompensierenden Mutation die Mutanten in der Nachkommenschaft aufgrund von Rekombination wieder auftreten.
