    Comment This does not apply to repositories or certain nuclear facilities used for the disposal of residues from the mining and processing of radioactive material, which are ‘closed’ and not ‘decommissioned’. Decommissioning typically includes dismantling of the facility (or part thereof), but in the IAEA’s usage this need not be the case. A facility could, for example, be decommissioned without dismantling and the existing structures subsequently put to another use (after decontamination).
