    Nóta In the electrolytic refining of copper, anode scrap is the part of the copper anode that remains at the end of the process. At a high current density and low voltage, copper ions are dissolved from the impure anode and pass into solution from where they are deposited onto the cathode. Copper removal from the anode ceases while the remaining anode is still mechanically strong enough to prevent a collapse. The remaining anode is then recycled in the copper production process.
