    Nóta Eco-labelling schemes fall under type I - environmental labelling (ISO 14024). These are voluntary programs, designed to reduce environmental effects by promoting market-driven demand for and supply of products which are verified by a third party. An eco-label should therefore indicate that an independent person or organisation has verified that the product meets a set of meaningful and consistent standards for environmental protection.
