- Nóta Das Amt des Premierministers entspringt dem Amt des First Lord of the Treasury, des Ersten Lords des Schatzamtes. Seit 1714 wurde das Amt des Schatzmeisters (Lord Treasurer), dem die Verwaltung des königlichen Schatzes oblag, nicht mehr an eine Einzelperson, sondern eine Kommission (Lords Commissioners of the Treasury) vergeben, innerhalb der der Erste Lord der führende Verantwortliche war. Seit 1902 ist der Premierminister gleichzeitig Erster Lord des Schatzamtes, und als solcher, nicht als Premierminister, residiert er in 10 Downing Street
