- Sainmhíniú On appelle "conférence" l'entente existant entre plusieurs compagnies de navigation battant différents pavillons pour une zone de trafic déterminée. Dans cette zone, elles établissent un tarif commun et prévoient les départs et les escales de leurs navires de manière à répondre exactement aux besoins des chargeurs, tout en obtenant une exploitation rentable et régulière. Les titres anglais des conférences n'ont, le plus souvent, pas d'équivalent français.
