- Comment Beim kompletten Remoting können sich Arbeitnehmer von wo auch immer in den Firmenserver einloggen. Sie müssen prinzipiell auch keine Präsenz in der Firma zeigen. Es gibt Freiberufler, die ihre Auftraggeber noch nie gesehen und fast noch nie mit ihnen telefoniert haben. Diese Definition ist deshalb zu beachten, weil mit einem Tele- oder Heimarbeitsplatz häufig etwas anderes gemeint ist.

The distinctions drawn here are based on the definitions suggested by the ILO in its technical note entitled 'Defining and measuring remote work, telework, work at home and home-based work'. The note suggests that 'remote work' and 'telework' both involve an arrangement where workers perform their tasks and duties on an alternative worksite other than the default place of work. The alternative worksite is typically in a worker's own home – creating an overlap between the concepts of 'work at home' and 'home-based work' – but could also be in a number of different types of locations, such as a co-working space, café or library.

- Comment Les termes "télétravail", "travail à distance" et "travail à domicile" peuvent se recouper et sont souvent utilisés de manière interchangeable. Les distinctions faites ici sont fondées sur les définitions proposées par l'OIT dans la note technique intitulée "Définir et mesurer le travail à distance, le télétravail, le travail à domicile et le travail basé à domicile". Selon cette note, le "travail à distance" et le "télétravail" sont des modalités de travail qui toutes deux impliquent que les taches incombant au travailleur soient effectuées depuis un lieu différent de celui où le travail devrait, par défaut, être effectué.
