    Sainmhíniú "molecule that regulates gene expression either by binding to repressors, thus disabling them and thus allowing certain operons to work and produce the normal gene product" Tagairt "COM-Terminology Coordination, based on: Wikipedia > Inducer (18.11.2020)"
    Nóta "An activator binds to a certain site of an operon so that RNA polymerase can then bind to the DNA to begin transcription.If an operon is ""inducible"" this means that transcription is normally off because a repressor is normally bound to the operator site of the operon. The repressor blocks the movement of RNA polymerase down the DNA. An inducer binds to the repressor so that the repressor detaches from the operator site and RNA polymerase can proceed down the DNA to transcribe the genes"

    Sainmhíniú lymphocyte appartenant à une sous-population de lymphocytes issus du thymus, principale cible du virus du VIH, qui porte à sa surface une protéine appelée CD4(anciennement T4) ; Variété de lymphocytes dont l'action est complémentaire à celle des lymphocytes B pour la production d'anticorps et à celle d'autres lymphocytes T dans l'immunité à médiation cellulaire. ; lymphocyte qui déclenche la maturation des lymphocytes T:il provoque la transformation des précurseurs en cellules fonctionnellement distinctes Tagairt SEC:Rozembaum,W.,Immunologie,Les dossiers du praticien n° 62,Sida:guide pratique 1990,p.31 ; ; N.Leroy:A terminology of AIDS,FR-EN-ES,Terminologie & traduction 2/1991
    Nóta Les lymphocytes T auxiliaires sécrètent deux facteurs: l' interleukine 2 et l' interféron gamma. Le VIH a un tropisme pour les lymphocytes T auxiliaires car ils possèdent la molécule CD4. L'une des manifestations biologiques du SIDA est donc la disparition des lymphocytes auxiliaires chez le malade. ;

    Sainmhíniú "T cell with limited life span involved in adaptive immunity that has differentiated further after exposure to an antigen and provides the immune system with ""memory"" against previously encountered pathogens" Tagairt "COM-Terminology Coordination, based on:- ASTRO. 'T Cell Activation and Effector Functions' (3.5.2024)- PluriSelect. 'Effector T cells' (3.5.2024)- Wikipedia > T cell (3.5.2024)"
    Nóta "Antigen-naive T cells expand and differentiate into memory and effector T cells after they encounter their cognate antigen within the context of an MHC molecule on the surface of a professional antigen presenting cell (e.g. a dendritic cell). Appropriate co-stimulation must be present at the time of antigen encounter for this process to occur. Historically, memory T cells were thought to belong to either the effector or central memory subtypes, each with their own distinguishing set of cell surface markers (see below).[19] Subsequently, numerous new populations of memory T cells were discovered including tissue-resident memory T (Trm) cells, stem memory TSCM cells, and virtual memory T cells. The single unifying theme for all memory T cell subtypes is that they are long-lived and can quickly expand to large numbers of effector T cells upon re-exposure to their cognate antigen. By this mechanism they provide the immune system with ""memory"" against previously encountered pathogens. Memory T cells may be either CD4+ or CD8+ and usually express CD45RO."
